Accessibility Information & Guest Guide

At Reindeer Lodge LTD, we want all our guests to experience the magic of our Christmas attraction. Our festive experience is set within a beautiful hillside woodland, featuring clean, well-maintained pathways designed to be accessible for as many visitors as possible. This guide is designed to help you plan your visit and understand what to expect before you arrive.

1. Venue Terrain & Path Conditions

As an outdoor event located in hillside woodland our trail does have some short intervals with steeper slopes which may make some heavier chairs harder to push up hill. Our trail pathways are constructed of compacted stone which are level and even.

Some areas on level ground areas are constructed with pea gravel pathways that may be harder going for thin or small-wheeled chairs and scooters.

• Wheelchair & Scooter Advice: Wider tyres or free wheel/off-road wheels are better suited for our loose pea gravel areas than thinner wheels.
• Weather & Shelter: While the trail is an outdoor winter experience, we have covered areas across the site to provide plenty of shelter from winter weather during your visit.
• Designated rest areas: Seating and rest areas are available at regular intervals throughout the attraction with a maximum distance between rest areas of 150m.
• Footwear Advice: Because the event takes place in an outdoor woodland setting, we recommend that visitors wear comfortable, sturdy outdoor footwear, like walking shoes, trainers or boots.

2. Building and activity accessibility

• All doorways (with exception standard toilets) have a minimum access width of 850mm allowing for standard pram, wheelchair and mobility scooter access.
• The Land Train has a ramped disability access carriage with minimum door width of 850mm allowing for standard pram, wheelchair and mobility scooter access.
• All activities can be accessed via ramped doorways where not on level ground with exception of:
  • The 360* VR Sleigh ride which requires a step up onto the ride itself.
  • The Sleigh Bell Inn licensed bar which has steps up to the service area, however the barman can take your order from the ground floor and bring it to you.
  • Train carriage eating areas in Elven Town have step access. Other under cover eating areas are available on level access by the Steam Mill food outlet.
  • The seating huts in Inglenook Hallows (Marshmallow Toasting area) have step access. Bench seating areas on level ground are available next to the huts.

3. On-Site Facilities

• Accessible Toilets: We have easy access toilets on site. Please note, however, that we do not have hoists, harness, changing or bed facilities available.
• Easy access toilets are entered at ground level, whilst other toilets have steps with handrail access.
• Baby Change facilities are available in the main Elven Town toilet area and have ramped access.
• Accessible Parking: We have designated parking spaces closer to the main entrance for guests with limited mobility. Please display your Blue Badge or inform our parking marshals upon arrival so they can direct you to the correct zone.

4. Sensory Factors & Lighting

Our festive trail is designed to be an immersive, sensory-rich experience.

• Lighting: The event uses extensive festive lighting, including ambient spotlights, string lights, and some twinkling or flashing light displays. We do not use aggressive strobe lighting used within our displays.
• Audio: Christmas music and atmospheric soundscapes are played through speakers across the site and inside the buildings and show areas.
• Atmospheric Effects: To create our experience we utilise artificial snow, bubble and smoke machines at points throughout the attraction. Guest with respiratory sensitivities, skin allergies or specific sensory processing conditions should be aware of these atmospheric effects prior to booking.

5. SEN(D) and Sensory-Sensitive Visits

• While we do not offer dedicated SEN(D) sessions, we closely manage our visitor numbers by allocating only a set number of family tickets per session to prevent overcrowding. For a quieter and more relaxed experience, we highly recommend booking the first or last time slots of the day, as there are naturally fewer visitors in the main Elven Town area during these periods.
• Guests can request a special lanyard at check-in to be worn by an adult; when this lanyard is on display, our team will do their absolute best to ensure minimum wait times between shows and grotto wherever possible and identify where faster assistance may be needed.
• Sign Language & Makaton Communication: Please note that we do not offer BSL interpreted sessions or signed performances. Our Christmas attraction is a highly visual, walkthrough experience designed around festive lighting and visual scenery. However, some of our key characters can communicate using basic Christmas Makaton to help bring the magic to life for our visitors.

6. Access Cards and Concessions

• We do only offer our standard price tickets for all visitors for this event. We are unable to offer discounted concession rates, Blue light discounts or complementary carer tickets.
• As a seasonal event, we operate under strict capacity limits per session. Every individual inside the venue occupies a fixed slot. Because all children must be accompanied by an adult guardian to navigate the experience, the requirement for an adult companion applies equally to all families attending. To keep our standard ticket prices affordable for all families without making the attraction unviable, we are unable to offer free or discounted carer tickets. Every person entering the attraction must hold a standard timed ticket.
• If your party holds a Nimbus Disability/Access card please present it to our check in team to receive a priority access lanyard to be worn by an adult; when this lanyard is on display, our team will do their absolute best to ensure minimum wait times between shows and grotto wherever possible and identify where faster assistance may be needed

7. Dog Policy

• Dogs Welcome: We are delighted to say that well behaved dogs are welcome to the event on leads. Dogs are permitted throughout all areas of the attraction.
• Sensory Requirements for Dogs: Because dogs are allowed in all areas, your dog must be entirely comfortable with crowds, livestock, loud noises, theatrical soundscapes, and intense festive lighting setups. If any of these elements are likely to make your dog nervous or uncomfortable please do not bring them to the event.
• Visitor Enjoyment & Welfare: The enjoyment and safety of all our visitors is our absolute top priority. Dog owners must be mindful that some guests may have fears or phobias of dogs so please allow as much space as possible and keep your dog under control at all times.
• Behaviour & Safety Expectations: All dogs must remain on a short, secure lead at all times and be kept under strict control. If your dog displays any nervous, reactive, or unwarranted behaviour like repetitive barking, pulling or jumping, you may be directed by our team to move to a quieter area or to take your dog back to your vehicle.
• Reindeer Welfare: Please help us protect our livestock by keeping your dogs calm and under full control away from the fenceline when approaching or passing the reindeer enclosures.
